Diagnosis and Solution:

To create the outline of a topography you must use two tools, Meshlab and Rhino.


  1.  Open Meshlab.
  2. reverse normals
  3. Remove duplicate vertices.
  4. Join nearby vertices.
  5. Decimate the topography at 0.1
  6. Export the result.


You will get the following result.



  1. Open Rhino.
  2. Import topography.
  3. Select delete faces.



Select the lines from right to left, they will turn yellow, press enter to delete them.

 

Then to generate the outline, in the upper bar click on Curve - Curve from Objects - Mesh Outline.


Select the mesh and it will be colored yellow, finally press enter to generate the outline.


To confirm that the process was carried out successfully, the outline of the topography will be colored yellow.



To export only the outline go to File- Export selection and choose the preferred format.
